Nowadays, the extensive use of power line hardware has ensured the normal operation of power transmission lines and greatly improved people's living standards. The immense power generated by power plants is transmitted to users through step-up substations, overhead power transmission lines, step-down substations, and low-voltage distribution lines. The equipment and conductors in the distribution devices of step-up and step-down substations, the connections between conductors and wires, the connection of transmission line wires and insulators into strings, and the self-protection of wires and insulators are all referred to as power line hardware.

Hardware in overhead power transmission lines and distribution devices is mainly used for supporting, fixing, and connecting bare conductors, conductors, and insulators into strings, as well as for protecting wires and insulators.

According to the main performance and purpose of the hardware, it can be roughly divided into the following categories:

1. Suspension hardware, also known as support hardware or suspension clamps. This hardware is mainly used to hang the string of power line insulators (mostly used on straight poles and towers) and to hang jumper lines on the insulator strings.

2. Anchorage hardware, also known as tension hardware or dead-end clamps. This hardware is mainly used to secure the terminals of power lines, fixing them to the string of dead-end insulators. It is also used for the fixation of lightning protection line terminals and the anchoring of guys. Anchorage hardware bears all the tension of the power lines and lightning protection lines, and some anchorage hardware also serves as a conductor.

3. Connection hardware, also known as hanging parts. This type of hardware is used for connecting insulators into strings and connecting hardware to hardware. It withstands mechanical loads.

4. Continuation hardware. This hardware is specifically used to continue various bare conductors and lightning protection lines. Continuation hardware bears the same electrical load as the conductors, and most continuation hardware bears all the tension of the power lines or lightning protection lines.

5. Protective hardware. This hardware is used to protect wires, insulators, etc., such as voltage distribution rings for protecting insulators, weights to prevent the pulling out of insulator strings, and anti-vibration hammers, protective wires, etc., to prevent wire vibration.

6. Connection and disconnection contact hardware. This hardware is used to connect hard busbars, soft busbars with the output terminals of electrical equipment, T-connections of conductors, and non-force-bearing parallel connections, etc. These connections are electrical contacts. Therefore, high conductivity and contact stability are required for contact hardware.

7. Fixed hardware, also known as power plant hardware or high-current busbar hardware. This hardware is used for fixing and connecting various hard busbars or soft busbars with support insulators in the distribution device. Most fixed hardware does not act as a conductor, only serving the role of fixing, supporting, and suspending. However, since these hardware components are used for high currents, all elements should be free of hysteresis loss.
