3R-33 Lock Knee (Otto Bock)

A titanium single-axis knee with manual lock, has extension assist.

A single-axis constant friction with weight activated brake and extension assist.

3R-60 (Otto Bock)

A polycentric knee, allowing up to 15 degrees of knee flexion during early stance, for a more comfortable transition to stance phase.

A rotary hydraulic knee with control over swing and stance phases, including stance phase flexion damping.

NK-6 Hydraulic Knee (Nabtesco)

A 6-bar hydraulic, polycentric knee.

Polycentric Knees

Knees with a variable centre of rotation, more closely mimicking the movement of the human knee centre of rotation as it flexes / extends. Many models are available on the market, including 4, 6 or 7 bar linkage designs. Advantages include:

• Centre of rotation moves behind the TKA line during stance, providing greater stability.
• The centre of rotation remains behind the TKA line during the first few degrees of flexion, providing opportunity to bear weight on the toe in late stance, and a more natural transition to swing.
• The knee folds flatter against the bottom of the stump in sitting, providing better cosmesis.
• Shortening of the shank segment during swing, increasing toe clearance.

A microprocessor controlled knee which uses magnetic technology to control swing and stance phases. Capable of adapting to a user's pattern of walking over time.
